Kuala Lumpur December 2022 “Raindrops keep falling ...Not!”

Today we have a baptism taking place at our house. I am in charge of filling the outdoor pool after which my wife will take over proceedings. I do my job well and the pool is set up and ready in little more than an hour. However storm clouds are approaching and an hour before the guests are due to arrive it starts to rain, heavily. The storm is about a mile away and whilst the lightning is something to behold it is going to ruin the event. Now it is the rainy season and a heavy afternoon shower is not unexpected but this one is heavy and its not going away. The worried looks on my wife's face suggests this may be worse that normal. When we do a baptism I pray for God to show up and bless the participants but with less than an hour to go my first prayers are for a change in the weather so the event can go ahead. I reminded myself of the four or five times in the past few years when I had prayed for a weather change and got it, the most recent being on the occasion of my eldest son's wedding and the younger one's engagement a few weeks ago. Today my prayer is for the storm to go away and it might well do that anyway but this one is not showing any signs of quitting. Our guests call to say they are not coming as the rain is too heavy and my wife starts to make plans with them to hold the baptism at eight o'clock in the morning the next day. The thought crosses my mind that I should now be praying for rain in the morning rather than get up that early! But no matter, right on the hour mark the rain stops and all decide we can still go ahead today. Smiles all round and a prayer of thanks from me to Our Lord for his help again.
