Melbourne October 2023 “Son’s wedding day reprised”

We are in Australia for our youngest son’s wedding, the elder having married last year. My wife and I have little to do other than turn up and enjoy ourselves. We are going to do that of course and one more thing, pray for no rain! The wedding venue is at a farm in the countryside outside of Melbourne so no one wants wet ground or a soggy day to spoil the occasion. During the days leading up to the event we are monitoring the weather forecast and it looks like it will be cloudy with slight chance of rain. Both my wife and I are taking no chances and our morning prayers include a request for a dry day.

At this point I recommend readers to look at what happened at my eldest son’s wedding. (This is the date). I felt confident it wouldn’t rain on this wedding day either because it mattered to me. When I pray for things that really matter to me rather than for those which would be nice to have I have noticed the outcome is quite often a good one. This was undoubtedly going to be one of those important days.

It was raining the day before the wedding but there was none on the day. It started cloudy but by midday the sky was clearing and the sun came out. It was a perfect result and a great wedding. In the evening we gathered outside the venue to listen to speeches, dance and gaze up at the moonlit sky and as I always do, I thanked the Lord for the outcome.
