Kuala Lumpur March 2025 "Lost coin"

I don't like losing things, anything, even something as small as a 10 sen coin (worth less than 2 pennies in UK money) so when I dropped one on the leather sofa chair I was sitting on I started to hunt for it. The coin had slid down the side, between the seat and the cushion, which on this chair is fitted to the seat. I could feel it but the seat cushion is quite solid and pressed up hard against the side of the seat so I could not open my fingers. I then adopted an alternative approach which was to push my hand down the narrow gap alongside the coin and use that to flip or lift it back up. In this case that simply allowed the coin to slip further out of my reach until I heard the sound of the coin dropping into the bottom depths of the seat but alas not the floor. With a sigh I stood up from the sofa, got hold of its arms and turned it over onto its side. It had a canvas bottom which was sealed to the base on three edges but open on one. Ah, I reasoned that if I tilted the chair so the open edge was the bottom edge then the coin would simply slide out. So that is what I did but to no avail. I shook the sofa, juggled it about a bit but nothing emerged. I couldn't hear the coin moving but with a base made of canvas and the frame of wood it would be unlikely to make much of a noise. It was far more likely that I would damage the sofa before I recovered that coin so I gave up the search, turned the sofa upright and mused whether someone might find the coin in twenty years time when the seat was scrapped. Then we went out to the shops to get food.
On our return I went to sit on the sofa and there, sitting right in the middle of the leather cushion was a small silver coin. I starred at it for a few moments and picked it up. It was a 10 sen coin, maybe the coin I had 'lost' a few hours earlier but there had been nothing special about that coin so I couldn't be sure. I rolled it over in my fingers and wondered how it had got there. Had I dropped two coins not one? Then I remembered I had turned the sofa on its side and shaken it. No coin left resting on the cushion could have remained there after all that. Very odd but this is not the first time something like this has happened, I remembered the kettle whistle that went missing for a few hours in our previous home. I looked around, thanked our Lord for its return and put it back in my wallet.
